Team News….

Norton-in-Hales Cricket Club are pleased to announce the signing of Paul Gould from Market Drayton. Paul has played in the North Staffs South Cheshire League before with Hanford, but of late has been plying his trade with Market Drayton CC. Paul has been a wicket taker at 2nd XI level wherever he has played and will bring with him a wealth of experience.

We are also pleased to announce the signing of Kassim Abbas from Leycett CC. Kassim has played for Norton-in-Hales CC in the past and saw promotion as his opportunity to return to the club. Born in Bromsgrove, Kas moved to the area to study at Keele University and has remained in the area ever since. Kas is a genuine all rounder being a left hand batsmen and right arm seamer who is looking to nail down a first team place.

We are close to making a couple of notable other signings. Please look out for updates on the website and extend a warm welcome to our new members.

‘Race Night’ Success

Race night report….                                                                                                                             The first cricket club race night was held at The Hinds Head on Friday 30th January and was a resounding success. Over 50 people braved the weather to cheer on their horse/donkey! The Hinds Head put on some lovely food for punters to enjoy which went down well.

A total of 6 races were run, including the auction race which itself raised £119. Race winners included Alan Eardley, Dan Lovatt, Alex Price, Stephen Bedson, Share Club and Mike Bircher.

Punters enjoyed a good flutter with the first race turning out a 10-1 winner for those lucky ticket holders. The night couldn’t have been such a success without the generous contributions from our supportors:-

Tern Vets LKL Services                                                                                                                      Frisby and Co Solicitors                                                                                                                      Rob Bromley (builders)                                                                                                                     Phillip Smith                                                                                                                                           Roly Tavernor                                                                                                                                          AR Richards

A total of £766 was raised which will go along way to funding a new sight screen which is desperately needed.

Many thanks to all who bought a horse, sponsored a race or had a flutter.

Cheers (Ben)

2014 was a good season with the First XI winning the Stone & District Premiership.

The social scene is developing…. members families & supporters shared a wonderful presentation evening in October. We have also been overwhelmed with the support and positive comments from the recent ‘Christmas Walk’.

2015 already looks like being an exciting & fun year for the Club with our first social event booked for late January and more ‘Events’ being discussed for all our entertainment!

The First XI & Second XI teams will be strengthened and will rise to the challenge on better grounds in the forthcoming season.

A Under 17’s team will be fielded and will prove to be a positive proposition attracting enthusiastic young talent. Cricket practice/indoor nets for all players begins early January.
