On a blisteringly hot day, Norton in Hales CC secured 3 wins on the same day! The 1st team walloped Stafford CC away, the 2nd team beat Church Eaton CC at home and the U8’s beat Rode Park and Lawton CC away on Saturday morning.
Norton in Hales CC 1st team elected to bat first and opening pair of Jack Furnival (83) and Eddie Warrington (24) put on 61 for the first wicket. A steady stream of 20-30 run partnerships kept the score ticking over. Darren Long chipping in with 40 to bring the innings to a close on 218-9 off their 45 overs.
The bowling reply was soon at work. Kashif Ali Moon (3-26) removing the top opening pair of batsmen very cheaply. Anthony Sheeran then came into the frame and a devastating spell (6-13 off 7 overs) ripped through the Stafford CC order. James Pringle finished the game off with a wicket, Stafford CC all out for 75 off 26 overs.
The 2nd team chose to bowl first, Charlie Hine (2-26) taking the first 2 wickets. On a good batting deck the away team kept the score ticking over at around 4 an over, however the home team bowlers kept taking wickets. Oliver Tinsley (2-44), Charlie Belfield (1-42), Paul Evans (1-16) and Simon Line (2-28) taking the wickets. Church Eaton finished their innings on 178-8 off their 40 overs.

Norton in Hales CC first team win again, this time at home to Alsager CC. Unfortunately the second team lost away at Sandyford CC 2nd X1.
Choosing to bowl first, the first time did not take long to have the game wrapped up. Mike Dyer (2-29) and Kashif Ali Moon (4-11) immediately removing the away team’s top order. Both Ewan Farnell (1-20) and Adeel Khalid (2-17) then came on and finished the Alsager innings off to leave the away team all out for 78 off 23 overs.
The reply with Ronnie Farnell (18) and Jack Furnival (31 not out) got the home team up and running. The score got to over 30 before the first wicket fell. Skipper Alex Thorley chipped in with 18, so it was left to Jack and James Pringle (9 not out) to wrap the game up for another great win, this time by 8 wickets.
The second team, away at Sandyford CC 2nd X1, bowled first and started well to reduce the home team to 74-5, then 94-6. However a 7th wicket partnership steadied their ship and after 40 overs the home team had reached 168-7. Best bowling from Paul Evans (2-23), Charlie Belfield (2-26) and Eddie Warrington (2-13).
In reply the Norton in Hales batsmen never got going and regular wickets meant we were never on target to reach the required total. Only 3 players reached double figures, Oli Wain (18), Matt Lawrenson (24) and Rob Warrington (11). Norton in Hales all out for 98.
In midweek the Phoenix league team, led by Eddie Warrington scored another victory, this time against Wedgwood CC, putting them onto the verge of qualification to the finals day.

Both the first and second team secured big wins this weekend. The first team away at Rode Park and Lawton CC, the second team at home to Endon CC 2nd X1.
The first team bowled first on their travels to Rode Park and Lawton CC and it was not long before they were back watching the second team secure their win. Kashif Ali Moon (2-12) started the ball rolling along with Mike Dyer (2-15) making early inroads. A wicket for Adeel followed and then a devastating burst from Ewan Farnell (5-3) wrapped up the Rode Park and Lawton innings for 60.
Norton in Hales’s reply did suffer a few wickets, however a very comfortable 6 wicket was gained, Another great win.
The second team at home, batted first and posted a score of 220-7 off their 40 overs. There were many contributions with the bat: James Ruscoe (41), Matt Lawrenson (38), Scott Lawrenson (78) and Rob Warrington (19) doing most of the damage.
The Endon reply never got anywhere near the run rate required, along with regular wickets it was only a matter of time before Norton in Hales gained the win. Endon all out for 112. Notable bowling figures from Scott Lawrenson (4-2), Paul Evans (2-22) and Charlie Hine (2-19). Another great win.

Both the first and second team take part in very tight games, however with different outcomes. The first team at home to Silverdale CC, bowled first. Generally good tight bowling kept the majority of the Silverdale Batsmen quiet, apart from 1 who batted extremely well and scored 95 before being caught on the boundary off Kashif’s bowling. Off their 40 overs Silverdale scored 182-7. 2 wickets apiece for Kashif, Mike Dyer and Adeel Khalid. 1 for James Pringle.
In reply, opener’s Jack Furnival (69) and Simon Dyer (30) put on a fantastic opening 50+ stand to get the innings off to a great start. Looking like what was becoming an easy win then turned nervy. Good tight bowling, a few wickets and things started to get close. In the end sensible batting from Kashif (13 no) and Anthony Sheeran (15 no) saw the home team to victory in the last over to win by 3 wickets.
The second team, away at Burslem CC 2nd X1, batted first and scored a brilliant total of 220-9 off their 40 overs. Notable innings from Simon Belfield (38), James Ruscoe (23), Scott Lawrenson (32), Jamie Shaw (54) and Ben Furnival (28).
In reply, Burlsem kept the run rate up, despite losing some wickets. At crucial times loose bowling got punished and the required total kept getting closer and closer. More wickets falling but in the end with a few overs to spare Burslem knocked off the score 8 wickets down. Best bowling of the day was Jamie Shaw (4-58) and Paul Evans (2-39).
Next week the 1st team are away at Rode Park and Lawton CC, 1pm start. The 2nd team are at home to Endon CC 2nd X1, also 1pm start. Please do come along and support.

The 1st team were at away at Barlaston CC. Batting first a great opening partnership between Ronnie Farnell (17) and Jack Furnival (65) set the standard and the rest of the team made sure the total was a very competitive one. With skipper Alex Thorley (20), stand in pro Appukuttige Perara (34), Darren Long (24) and James Pringle (11), the Norton in Hales Innings finished on 206-8 off their 40 overs.
In reply, in form Kashif Ali Moon (5-15) started the damage very quickly, ripping through the top order of Barlaston CC. 36-5 made sure the Norton total was way out of sight. It was a matter of time before the Norton bowlers wrapped the game up. Anthony Sheeran weighing in with 3-22, along with a wicket apiece for Appukuttige and Ewan Farnell. Barlaston were bowled out for 99. A great win.
The 2nd team were at home to Moddershall/Oulton CC 5ht X1. Batting first the early Norton batsmen had to see off some very good early bowling. That laid the foundations for excellent batting in the middle and end overs to reach a great total of 228-7 off their 40 overs. Great innings from captain Matt Lawrenson (77 not out), Simon Belfield (26), Simon Line (17), Charlie Hine (25), Jamie Shaw (23) and Scott Lawrenson (20 not out).
A first ball of their innings wicket from Scott Lawrenson set the scene for Norton. From there they never looked back. Wickets from all of the Norton in Hales bowlers ensured a huge win as Moddershall/Oulton CC 5th X1 were bowled out for 102. Pick of the bowlers were Matt Lawrenson 2-24 and Simon Dyer 3-2. Another great win.

The 1st team were at home to Caverswall CC, batting first the home team got off to a great start, reaching 56 for the first wicket. However by the time the score had reached 105 we had lost 6 wickets. A couple of short cameos got the score to 151 before all out. Top scores of the day were Jack Furnival (29) and Joe Wagg (23).
It was not long before the Caverswall CC batsmen were in trouble from the Norton in Hales bowlers. Once the score hit 21, it all went wrong for the batting team with Kashif Ali Moon (5-23) ripping through. Ewan Farnell and James Pringle chipping in with 2 apiece as well, plus 1 from Mike Dyer saw Caverswall CC all out for 78.
The 2nd team were away at Wood Lane CC, asked to bowl first they struggled to take early wickets. A 50 run opening partnership before the first wicket. The bowlers then brought good control and reduced the home team to total of 147/7 off their 40 overs. 2 wickets apiece for Simon Line and Jamie Shaw, plus 1 apiece for Paul Evans and Scott Lawrenson.
The Norton in Hales reply got off to the worst start possible, 1-1, 9-2 then 51-6. Not what the doctor ordered. A fantastic knock from Jamie Shaw (33) got the ball rolling, 118-7. It was then left to Scott Lawrenson (6 no) and Simon Line (14 no) to see the Norton in Hales lads home for a 2 wicket win.
Last Sunday the Sunday 3rd team had a great contest at home to Forton CC. In the end losing by only 3 runs against a very youthful away team. The Phoenix League team won their second game last Thursday evening, 2 form 2 now!

On a day of exciting cricket and good weather, both the 2 Saturday Senior sides at Norton in Hales CC suffered close defeats.
The 1st team were away at Sandbach CC, winning the toss Norton chose to bat first. It was very slow going on a tricky wicket and patience was the name of the game. Joe Wagg fighting his way to a fine 28, Alex Thorley weighing in with 47, Darren Long contributing with 21 and Ronnie Farnell chipping in with 25 at the end. After their 40 overs Norton in Hales ended up with 158-9.
In reply Sandbach lost an early wicket to Mike Dyer, then steadied the ship to take the score onto 105 before the second wicket was taken. Norton in Hales bowlers then had a purple patch and regular wickets fell taking the game to the final over. 2 wickets required for Norton or 3 runs for Sandbach. The result went the way of Sandbach CC. A great game.
The 2nd team were at home to Oakamoor CC 2nd X1. Put into bat first the Norton innings got off to a great start, reaching 45 for the first wicket. However after that the wickets fell and only the opening pair of Simon Belfield (44) and Jamie Evans (13), plus skipper Matt Lawrenson (19) got into double figures. Norton in Hales all out for 111.
Paul Evans took his customary early wicket in reply, then Matt Lawrenson struck twice to leave Oakamoor CC on 14-3. At 34-4 things looked good for Norton, however the batsmen then steadied the ship. 2 late wickets for Jamie Shaw was not enough and Oakamoor CC saw it through with 4 wickets left.

On another grey, wet day, both Norton in Hales CC Saturday Senior teams gained valuable wins.
The 1st team were at home to top of the league Oakamoor CC. Batting first on a tricky wicket the steady batting of substitute pro Aaron Thomason (64 no) along with good support from Alex Thorley (24) and James Pringle (30) meant a decent total was put on the board in difficult conditions, 182-8 off 40 the 40 overs.
The highly effective Norton in Hales bowling attack did not take long to make inroads into the away teams batting order. 5 of the 6 Norton bowlers all chipped in with wickets. The Oakamoor CC reply never really got going and they were always well behind. The introduction of Kashif Ali Moon as 4th change bowler finished any lingering hopes. Kashif finishing with 4-24. Other notable bowling figures from Anthony Sheeran 2-19. In the end a great 60 run victory for Norton in Hales CC.
The 2nd team were away at Leycett CC 2nd X1. Bowling first the Norton opening pair kept things very tight. It was the change of bowling which then got the wickets column moving. Charlie Belfield and Charlie Hine doing a lot of the damage, 2-40 and 3-13 respectively. A further couple of further wickets from Scott Lawrenson leaving the home side at 142-8 off their rain affected 35 overs.
Norton’s batting reply started in a very lively fashion with James Ruscoe blasting a quick 29 off the first 4 overs then getting court. The steady partnership of Ronnie Farnell (46) and Eddie Warrington (42) then ground the Leycett bowlers into the group, taking the score from 32-1 to 133-2! Both Ronnie and Eddie then got themselves out going for the big 6 to finish the game off! Jamie Evans and Matt Lawrenson then got the lads over the line to gain a fantastic 7 wicket win.
