A day of 2 dramatic wins for Norton in Hales CC

A fantastic day of cricket resulted in 2 great wins for Norton in Hales CC, both in dramatic fashion.
The 1st team were at home in the top of the table clash with Sandbach CC. Batting first the Norton in Hales batsmen, led by Jack Furnival (95), Darren Long (47), James Ruscoe (24) and Adeel Khalid (19 no) set a very challenging total of 235-8 off their 45 overs.
Inroads were made immediately by the Norton in Hales bowlers, namely Kashif Ali Moon (3-25) to leave Sandbach CC 9-3. The batting team never recovered to mount a winning challenge, however they were stubborn enough to try and hang on for a draw. Another great spell from James Pringle (3-16) got the home team nearer to victory. However, in a devastating second spell by Jack Furnival (4-30), left Norton in Hales needing 1 wicket to win in the final over. In true Hollywood fashion with 3 balls left an unbelievable caught behind from Jamie Evans sealed the win and wild celebrations.
The 2nd team were away at Oakamoor CC 2nd X1, electing to bowl first the bowling unit kept a very tight grip on the home team batsmen. Paul Evans the pick of the bowlers (4-20), with a wicket apiece for Ewan Farnell, Jamie Shaw and Simon Line. The home team finishing their 40 overs on 127-7. The batting reply did not start well. At 75-7 the home team though they had it won. At the crease now were Charlie Belfield (29 no) and Simon Line (31). A stand of 40 for the 8th wicket changed the complexion of the game. Paul Evans replaced Simon Line at the crease and with some magnificent running between the wickets Paul and Charlie saw the game home with 1 over to spare for a Norton in Hales CC win.
