Norton-in-Hales 1st XI travelled to Oakamoor CC in high spirits and leading division 3A with the team in good form. Norton lost the toss and was put into bat. Norton’s batsmen set to the task and an excellent all round batting performance put a handsome total of 253 for the opposition to chase. (see batting scorecard)
After tea Norton’s bowlers attacked early with Michael Dyer (3/24) and Zafar Iqbal (3/33) removing wickets, assisted by Simon Dyer (2/25). The opposition was skittled out for a mere 106 runs. Norton victorious with a 147 run winning margin.
Norton-in-Hales 2nd XI entertained the division 3B leaders Oakamoor CC 2nds at home and looking to end Norton’s poor run. Norton losing the toss and the team was sent out to field. Norton’s bowlers had difficulty in taking early wickets. The breakthrough came and Norton fought back. Paul Evans (5/28) bowled excellently assisted by Martin Harper (3/38) restricting the visitors to 156 all out.
After tea Norton’s batsmen continued the poor run with a poor 61 all out losing the match by 95 runs.
Norton-in-Hales under 17’s took to the field on Sunday morning playing at home against Little Stoke CC. The visitors winning the toss and electing to bat. Good early bowling from Norton’s Ollie Jarvis (2/30) removing the openers. Stubborn resistance from Little Stoke’s middle order batsmen proved difficult to conquer for Norton’s hard working bowlers. Eddie Warrington chipping in restricting the visitors to 164 all out.
Norton’s under 17’s batsmen followed. Scoring runs proving to be difficult with the team only managing 73 all out. Norton losing the match by 91 runs. It was excellent to see the match played in good spirits and to watch Norton’s stars of the future who will progress to the senior teams…
