Norton-in-Hales CC 1st XI travelled to the ground of J & G Meakin Fenton. Our team in good spirits and currently leading the division. The opposition won the toss and elected to field. A disastrous start for Norton’s batting with opener Simon Belfield being run out first ball. The irresistible form followed from Luke Claydon hitting 53 and Zafar Iqbal 56. James Ruscoe adding runs down the order helped to reach an all out total of 162 runs.
After teas Norton’s Zafar Iqbal (5/31) spearheaded the bowling attack and stuck to the task of removing wickets. Michael Dyer (3/43) kept the pressure on helping to bowl the tail out. A convincing win for Norton by 60 runs.
Norton-in-Hales CC 2nd XI at home to J & G Meakin Fenton 2nds. The visitors won the toss and elected to field. Early Norton wickets tumbled and the pressure was on to post a score. Mike Bircher showing stubborn resistance to the bowlers as further wickets fell. Mike eventually losing his wicket for 27 runs. Norton’s tail end batting managing to add runs with some positive batting from Paul Gould 18 not out adding to the lowly all out total of 86.
The visitors managed the run chase well against a concerted bowling attack of Eddie Warrington & Martin Harper taking a wicket each. Paul Evans (2/13) and Paul Gould assisted with the bowling but Norton’s lowly score was within easy reach for the visitors. Norton lost the match by 5 wickets.
Captains have requested for the players to attend nets/practice this Wednesday & Friday 6pm. The clubhouse bar will be open after play for a shandy…..
